This site, OurWordSoftware.org, is in the process of becoming
the location for OurWord. The previous site (ourword.TheSeedCompany.org) will
be transitioned here over the coming weeks.
My intention is to use this site as a combination of software
documentation and as a place where the curious can learn about the program. By
design OurWord is as easy as possible for the national translator (who might not
have much previous computer experience); therefore placing the complexity to the
responsibility of the project advisor. Is is that advisor that I expect to want to
explore this web site in order to evaluate whether or not to user OurWord; and
once having become a user, to learn about how to best make use of software features.
As an ulterior motive, I am using this as an opportunity to
learn how to develop a web site using asp.net technology. I believe the web-based
computing is going to be the future for Bible translation software, and I like
the idea of using Microsoft technology, which permits me to use C# and DotNet as technology behind
web pages....given that C#/DotNet are the technologies under which OurWord
has been developed thus far. So thanks in advance for your patience as I gradually
develop the site and learn the technology. Check back later for those things you
have grown to expect in web sites....its coming! (And no, there's no need at this
point to email me about what's missing or how to do it better....I'm already
painfully aware!)
